When in Rwandaโ€ฆ Try a Rolex! ๐ŸŒฏ๐Ÿณ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ผ

We had been hearing about a popular East African breakfast favourite called the Rolex, so naturally, we had to give it a try!

No, not the luxury watch! ๐Ÿ˜‚ The Rolex is a much-loved street food made by rolling a freshly cooked egg omelette, along with your choice of fillings, inside a warm chapati. Options include beef, chicken, sausage, fries or vegetables, with prices around CAD $4.

After attending Sunday Mass, we stopped by Aroma Cafรฉ in Gisozi, Kigali, to try one for ourselves. And it did not disappoint! Simple, flavourful, satisfying and absolutely delicious.

The best part? We finally figured out that Rolex is probably short for โ€œrolled eggsโ€ โ€” roll-eggs, Rolex! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿฅš๐ŸŒฏ

You have to love the creativity behind the name!

Another little culinary adventure ticked off our Rwanda list. ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ผโค๏ธ
